Semyon Shapiro, the Chairman of the Minsk Regional Executive Committee, was elected Chairman of the Belarusian Ice Hockey Association.
It happened at the reporting and election conference, where Igor Rachkovsky – the former head of the organization – resigned. Despite the victory in the bidding campaign for the right to host the World Championship in Belarus and Latvia in 2021, the Belarusian hockey team is ready for changes. A special emphasis will be placed on the preparation of the young players, development of the national coaching system.
Semyon Shapiro, the Chairman of the Belarusian Ice Hockey Association:
"The work must be collegial. It is necessary to listen to all points of view. Of course, they will be different. I understand this, and in ice hockey, it's always been like this. Of course, it was necessary to strengthen the team, and coach more young athletes. Development, improvement, and strengthening is an endless and continuous process."
